We cover a number of themes throughout the year and work hard to link as many aspects of the early years framework together as possible in order to provide interesting and purposeful learning opportunities for all children.
We begin our time in reception learning ‘all about me’. We take a look at ourselves, our lives and those around us, exploring similarities, differences and special qualities. We follow on from this by looking to ‘celebrate our world’, exploring a range of countries and cities around the world as well as religious and cultural celebrations. This theme is rounded off with an exhibition for children to showcase their work to parents.
We delve in to the fantasy land of giants, dragons, knights and castles in a quest to save the princess who has been kidnapped by an unknown individual. The children use books and fictional characters to gain clues to help them with their quest.
This term brings us to an inside look at all things wild: animals, habitats and plants. We explore how and why these things grow and change over time. We finish the year with an imagination overload, and step into the world of superheroes.
