Parents are welcome in the playgrounds before and after school. Please do not leave your child unsupervised in the playground.
Our classrooms are open from 8.40 am so that children can come into school as soon as they arrive. This avoids waiting on the playground to line up and ensures a prompt start to the teaching day at 8.50 am. Please note that the formal start to the school day is at 8.50 am and children are not expected to be in every day at 8.40 am if this does not suit family or drop off arrangements.
In Reception and Key Stage 1 we invite parents to join their children during this 10 minute session to settle their child in and take the opportunity to read a book with them if you are able to. We know that family life is ever busier, but hope that by offering this additional 10 minutes of quality time with your younger children, you will be able to feel more involved in your children’s learning.
In Key Stage 2 classes the curriculum is structured a little differently, and this extra time will be used to get the children started on some work to develop their basic skills, whether it is additional handwriting practice, spellings practice or some mental maths teasers.
If you are late arriving at the start of the school day, please report to school reception.
Children should be collected on time at the end of the day. If you are late to collect your child, they will be taken to wait at school reception and you will be contacted to find out why you are held up. It is helpful if you contact the school if you are likely to be delayed so that your child can be safely looked after until your arrival.
