Under the 1986 Education Act, children are required to be in school for 190 days each academic year. These are divided into three terms as follows:
September to Christmas – Autumn Term
January to Easter – Spring Term
April to July – Summer Term
During each term there is a half term break of one week. Teaching staff are in school for a further five days for professional training. These are called “Non Pupil Days” or “Inset Days” and are normally added at the start or end of a term. You will be notified in advance of the dates set for such days.
