Uniform

At Runwell Community Primary School we seek to promote a strong sense of community and belonging, and believe this is enhanced by our pupils wearing a consistent uniform.  We believe that this uniform should be practical and fit for purpose, enabling children to learn and play in an unencumbered way whilst still looking smart and promoting a sense of pride in their appearance.

Uniform for Saplings Nursery

  • Royal Blue T-shirt (logo available)
  • Black jogging bottoms or shorts as appropriate
  • Plimsolls for indoor wear
  • Puddle suit
  • Wellington boots
  • Cold weather clothing (coats/hats/scarves/gloves)
  • Warm weather accessories (caps/hats)

Uniform for Year R to Year 6

  • Royal blue jumper/cardigan or fleece jacket (logo available)
  • Grey trousers/skirts/skorts or shorts
  • White polo shirt (logo available)
  • Blue and white checked summer dress/skirt/shorts
  • Black, grey or white socks or tights
  • Black sensible school shoes or plain black trainer style shoes (No sandals or boots)
  • Cold weather clothing (coats/hats/scarves/gloves)
  • Warm weather accessories (caps/hats)

The following may also be purchased for daily use

  • Book bag (carry handle and velcro fastening)
  • Despatch bag (satchel with front over flap and single shoulder strap)
  • Rucksack (backpack type bag, light and easy to carry with duffle drawstring)

Jewellery

Jewellery should be limited to a plan pair of stud earrings and a wrist watch or simple fit bit style tracker (no smart watches please) which must be removed for PE.

Hair Accessories

Hair accessories should be appropriate for school wear and matched to the school colours of blue and white.  For safety reasons overly large bows and elaborate hair bands, clips and extensions should not be worn.   Hair bands and clips should lie close to the head.

Religious Observance/Medical Conditions

If you wish for your child to wear any other/additional items for the purposes of religious observance or due to medical requirements please make the school aware so that your child is not challenged by staff for non-adherence to the policy.

PE Kit

All participants in a PE lesson (children and staff) should always wear appropriate clothing for the activity being carried out. It is important that this kit is available in school every day and taken home as appropriate to be washed.

  • T-shirt (house colour)
  • Shorts of an appropriate length
  • Jogging bottoms (for outdoor PE)
  • Jumper/hooded jacket (for outdoor PE)
  • Trainers or plimsolls

*No jewellery – ALL EARRINGS TO BE REMOVED UNLESS NEWLY PEIRCED (See PE Policy for further detail)

Swim Wear KS2 Only

  • Girls – One piece costume, towel, goggles (if required) and swimming hat (long hair)
  • Boys – Shorts (above knee) or trunks, towel, goggles (if required) and swimming hat (if required).

Sports Competition Kits

The school has a sponsored athletics, gymnastics and football kit for children to wear when taking part in sports activities on behalf of the school.
